Explore the bronze sand casting process
Bronze sand casting is a popular form of casting. To better understand the process of creating a sand casting product, let’s explore the article below with Lostwaxcasting CDL.
1. What is sand casting?
Sand mold is a type of mold that is cast once, poured once and then broken. Sand casting has the advantage of creating castings with complex structures, large volumes and low mold costs. However, the disadvantage of this method is that the castings have low precision, poor surface gloss, and large machining allowances.
2. Sand casting bronze casting production process

The sand casting bronze process goes through 6 steps:
- B1: The technical department creates the casting drawing, sample, and core box based on the detailed drawing
- B2: The sample set is made based on the drawing.
- The casting sample is used to create the mold cavity with the external shape of the casting
- The core box is used to make the core, creating the internal shape of the casting
- The pouring system sample is used to create the steam bean
- The steam bean is used to conduct the molten copper and release the gas for the mold
- B3: Mold assembly
- B4: The molten copper melting department promptly pours the molten copper into the mold. The metal melting department ensures smooth coordination with the mold making and mold assembly process
- B5: After the copper solidifies, the casting is formed in the mold. Conduct mold and core breaking, clean the casting, check the casting manually or by machine
- B6: Check the casting for shape, size, internal quality
